I will describe San Michele, which is a hamlet of Cassino. We are in a hilly and scenic area, at an altitude of 260 meters above sea level. This is a region rich in olive groves where walking or biking is truly rejuvenating. At a distance of 3.5 km, there is the small village of Cervaro where we can find two supermarkets, a pharmacy, a bank, a bakery for fresh bread, and a few simple bars to enjoy a classic coffee in peace, overlooking the ancient square. Six kilometers downhill, there is the lively city of Cassino with its 10 banks, three post offices, shopping centers, six pharmacies, a hospital, three clinics, and three large diagnostic centers. There are cinemas and squares crowded with young people, especially in the evening hours. There is a myriad of restaurants, all good and offering different characteristics, from traditional cuisine to gourmet or international dishes. The university campus with its six faculties enriches the cultural aspect. On the mountain overlooking the city, there is the Abbey of Montecassino, founded by St. Benedict of Nursia in 529 AD. The Abbey of Montecassino is the oldest monastery in Italy, along with the Monastery of Santa Scolastica, the cradle of Italian writing and culture. On the slopes of Montecassino, there is a whole area of settlements such as the Roman theater and amphitheater.
