Museum Paparella Treccia Devlet

VILLA URANIA MUSEUM - Ancients Majolica of Castelli The Museum is located in a nineteenth century mansion at the heart of Pescara, nearby Piazza Salotto. Villa Urania holds a collection of Paparella Devlet Treccia, the product of 40 years of research by Professor Raffaella Paparella Treccia. The collection consists of 150 selected masterpieces of Castelli’s artistic majolica, work of the greatest masters of Castelli active between the XVI and XIX century, belonged to the families Pompei, Grue, Gentili, Cappelletti and Fuina. Among the most valuable artworks we can find the most complete testimony of service weapons executed in the craftsman’s studio of Francesco Grue - composed of 19 plates realized for the Bishop of Penne (PE) and Atri (TE), between the years 1661 and 1668 - and famous works of Carl’Antonio Grue, including the oldest copy of castles’ bowl and two vases from console valuable items manufactured for Leopold I of Austria, which were later passed along to the collection to Savoy.
