Ecological museum of marsh grasses

The Ethno-park is the outdoor display of the Ecomuseum. It features amazing huts made of reed; in the past, these building were common in the Province of Ravenna. The huts have been recreated by the last living expert of this craft and are accurate reproductions of originals. The detailed elements of the huts are finished with mud whereas the floors are simply made of compressed soil; the top-coat of the floor comprises a layer of sand mixed with soil, the purpose of which is to protect the surface from the wet clogs of the farmer. The beautiful traditional Romagnolo hut is on the right of the museum’s entrance; this is the ancient local shelter, whose projecting roof protects the entrance door (spurtèla). The hut features a display of laundry items and the so-called lanternó, a sort of raised larder that used to protect food from mice or other animals.
