The ranking formula
The position in the ranking is calculated using a weighted Bayesian average, a statistical method widely used to make rankings more reliable.
Unlike simple arithmetic average, this system takes into account not only the average score, but also the number of reviews received. In this way, structures with few reviews but very high votes are not automatically favored over those with many reviews and more established ratings.
Reviews from Google and TripAdvisor are included in the calculation through a conversion from a five-point scale to a ten-point scale.
The formula used is:
Score = (n x R + C x M) / (n + C)
Where:
n = total number of reviews received by the structure
R = weighted average of the structure’s reviews (with Google and TripAdvisor reviews converted to ten-point scale)
M = weighted average of all structures on the platform
C = average number of reviews per structure on the platform
