Description
Built about 120 years ago on a group of ancient medieval houses in a place called “Casalino, ” Corte Vecchi has an incredible history of culture and nobility: already owned in 1656 by Count Angelo Francesco and Canon Don Carlo Angelo Gabbi, it became the property of Count Giancarlo Montanaridi in 1750. Generations followed and the noblewoman Emilia Torrigiani arrived, sister of Senator Luigi and wife first of Gruau and then of Pavesi. It was to be the first consort, of French nationality, who planted vineyards of fine grapes (sauvignon) on the surrounding hills and built a building here for use as a wine emporium. He, and other oenologists from beyond the Alps, were pioneers: it is to them that we owe a happy season for Parma wine, which was able to conquer the podium at international reviews in London and Paris. Just one bottle at the time produced here is on display in one of the most interesting Food Museums in the surrounding area, that of Sala Baganza Wine.

When that activity ceased, the cellar was modified by raising a second floor and used as a dwelling, first sold to Ceretti of Spezia and then purchased in 1939 by Mrs. Gina Ghezzi, wife of Prof. Mario Vecchi, a distinguished physician from Parma. Later abandoned, it was then skillfully renovated preserving its hybrid style and dividing the oratory into three residential units, today Corte Vecchi.

The Bertoli-Mandelli family opens the doors of Corte Vecchi as a B&B, allowing today to relive its entire experience, combining the typical Emilian welcome with the exclusivity of a prestigious location, rich in frescoes and at the same time intimate and genuine.

B&B Corte Vecchi succeeds in satisfying both the eye and the other senses in a place suitable for both leisure travelers and those looking for business accommodations, equipping itself with various services and partnerships (from workstations to wine and food tours).

The three rooms, whose name enhances the history of Corte Vecchi, consono to accommodate up to 6 perosne. Each with its own charm, they guarantee a comfortable and relaxing stay, surrounded by the Corte's park. From the romantic “Gruau” to the refined “Suite Vecchi” and the cozy “Torrigiani, ” each room is furnished with attention to detail and offers all the necessary comforts, including breakfast.
