Au Vicariat

Paquier Capoluogo, VALTOURNENCHE | Area: city center
Declared by the Innkeeper

Au Vicariat was born from the complete renovation of the ancient rural house, dating back to the late 1600s, while respecting the traditions of the Aosta Valley and the mountains, and preserving the environment with the installation of a wood and pellet heating system, using hot water produced by solar panels.

Over the years, a part of the house has served as the headquarters of the "Vicariate," which gave its name to the structure, as well as the kindergarten and school for the children of the village.

The other section included a stable and stone vaulted cellars, one of which has been meticulously restored, along with a typical dwelling with "Peillo" and "Méson," and an upper barn.

During the restoration, original prints and their corresponding descriptions of the historical costumes of Valtournenche were discovered in a wooden box, providing a glimpse into the lost traces of this local tradition, as well as numerous other costumes from Valdostan folklore.
