Area city center
the b & b is located in the heart of the old Borgo of Taranto, overlooking the Small Sea and entrance from a Postierla (typical staircase). its position is favorable as it is close to both points of historical-cultural and artistic interest as well as to the main urban means of transport.
The B & B is located right in the heart of the village with a strategic location, infatuated in the exact crossing point of the two main streets that divided the village into four districts. The old town had 4 wards, called "Pittaggi". Organized according to the two main roads along the Via di Mezzo and Nuova via, the pitageries were: San Pietro, Baglio, Ponte and Turripenne. In the first two pitagories that corresponded to the upper part of the old town, the nobility and the bourgeoisie lived, and in the other two, overlooking the Small Sea, the people lived. In the last, Turripenne, there was the Jewish ghetto. Each pitta was tied to a church. The BAGLIO or the Baglio pittag, with reference to the
church of St. Augustine, was predominantly inhabited by the high military officers of the castle (especially in
period of Spanish occupation), noble and high bourgeoisie. The Piton PONTE called so because tied
at the ancient bridge of Pietra, referred to the church of St. Dominic. The inhabitants of this pitagogo were fishermen and merchants. The SAN PIETRO pit, opposite the Grande Grande, including the Cathedral: there was the rich bourgeoisie and the tarantine nobility, besides the high priest of the episcopate,
characterized by a prestigious building, and so-called for the presence of the Monastery of St. Peter Imperial, today, the church of San Domenico.
The TURRIPENNE pitfight, which hosted the Jewish ghetto, took its name from an ancient tower called
"Turris poenorum", ie "Carthage Tower" This denomination is due to a particular
interpretation of a specific episode of the ancient history of the city, according to which in itself
this tower the Carthaginian leader Annibale would have expected with his men the agreed signal
with the tarantines to break into the city, occupied by the Romans. It refers to the Vast Ascend (called so
because he was walking in front of the Penna head promontory) and referred to the church of St. Joseph
(also called the Fishermen's Church). It was the pitfacing of fishermen, puppets and stringers, and Jews.

Grazie siamo stati benissimo
