Nestled among the gentle hills surrounding Gubbio, Ina•Maka is a sanctuary that embraces the tranquility and beauty of nature. The panoramic views of the mountains and the town offer moments of true enchantment, while the silence is only broken by the sounds of the forest and its animal inhabitants. Despite being surrounded by countryside, the location is just a short twenty-minute drive from the center of Gubbio and less than an hour from Perugia and Assisi.
Guests share the space with two dogs, three cats, and a few chickens, creating an even more homely and welcoming atmosphere. Pets are also welcome, with the request to arrange their presence in advance to ensure a peaceful stay for everyone.
The rich breakfast offered, sweet and savoury, is entirely plant-based, made with local and seasonal ingredients, and can be enjoyed in the spacious indoor area or outdoors, with views of the Umbrian landscape. Access to the house is via a short uphill stretch of unpaved road, which is navigable with regular vehicles.
Ina•Maka, which means "Mother Earth" in Lakota, was created as a sustainable living project aimed at restoring a genuine balance between humans and the environment. This ecological approach is evident in the care of the greenery, which is allowed to grow naturally to promote biodiversity, as well as in every aspect of daily life.
The facility is powered by solar energy through a photovoltaic system that provides electricity and hot water. Wastewater is naturally treated and reused for the garden and food forest. Rainwater is also collected and processed to supplement well water, ensuring responsible resource use.
Nothing is left to chance: every detail reflects a commitment to a lifestyle that respects the Earth, featuring creatively repurposed objects in line with the principles of the three Rs. Ina•Maka is not just a place to sleep; it is an experience that encourages slowing down and reconnecting authentically with nature.
