A thousand years of hospitality in the Florentine mountains

Set in a 14th-century guesthouse that was once part of a Camaldolese monastic complex founded in 1030, just steps from the Pieve of Santa Margherita di Antiochia — a place where time seems to stand still among woods, silence and centuries of history.

Rescued and restored by young volunteers from the "Perché No?" ("Why Not?") association, the guesthouse now provides local jobs to those very same young people who worked to bring it back to life.

Tòsina is an official stop on the Via dei Monasteri, the pilgrim route from Florence to the Hermitage of Camaldoli, which connects onward to the Via di Francesco (Way of St. Francis) toward La Verna — the ideal base for hikers, cyclists, or anyone simply seeking quiet.

Four rooms with private bathroom and breakfast, each with its own story:

Camera Camaldolese — tucked between a 14th-century archway and Longobard walls, ground floor · double bed + bunk bed · sleeps 4
Camera Castello del Pellegrino — dedicated to those on foot · 4 bunk beds · sleeps 8
Camera Foresta — quiet and cosy, overlooking the garden · double bed · sleeps 2
Camera dell'Oste Guelfa — spacious, ideal for families and small groups · double bed + 2 bunk beds · sleeps 6

Small pets are welcome.

We're set between the Abbey of Vallombrosa, Secchieta and the Consuma Pass, just an hour from Florence — the perfect starting point for hiking, cycling and exploring the Florentine Apennines.
