La Vecchia Officina is situated in a building from the early 19th century, just a short walk from the lake, within the premises of a historic tire workshop that has been completely transformed. A comprehensive renovation completed in 2025 has resulted in a cozy and efficient apartment, rated A2 for energy efficiency, where the original character harmonizes with modern comforts and well-designed spaces.
The property features three spacious double rooms, each equipped with a private bathroom and large showers, designed to ensure privacy and relaxation. The amenities include LED lighting, a 55-inch smart TV with Netflix and Prime Video, Wi-Fi connection, a minibar, a coffee machine, and a kettle, providing a comfortable stay. There is a communal breakfast area, but the kitchen is not available for guest use outside of breakfast hours; guests cannot use the microwave and induction cooktop. Pets are not allowed.
Breakfast is served in a self-service format from 8:00 to 10:00 and consists of typical Italian sweet options, with a focus on fresh, high-quality products. Gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegan alternatives are available upon request. Towels are changed free of charge every three nights, while bed linens are changed every seven; bathrobes are provided upon request, subject to availability.
Guests have independent access through codes, allowing for maximum flexibility in timing. Marianna personally oversees every aspect of hospitality, from the initial contact with guests to their welcome and breakfast preparation, demonstrating the care and attention of someone who wants everyone to feel at home. She lives with her husband, Massimo, just 200 meters from the property and also manages Civico29 Rooms & Breakfast, which opened in 2018 nearby. When possible, she also helps out at the family newsstand next to the Duomo, offering newspapers, magazines, and souvenirs.
The location, on a quiet street in the historic village of Sant’Agostino, near the church of the same name and the harbor, allows for easy access on foot to the bus station, Trenord rail services to Lake Como, the town center, the theater, the Duomo, restaurants, cafes, a pharmacy, ATMs, a supermarket, a laundry, and hair salons, all within about 150-300 meters. Valduce Hospital is approximately a ten-minute walk away.
