Via Delle Orfane, 19 - TORINO (TO)
Aprile offers warm hospitality of a bed and breakfast or residence basis in a charming old building right in the heart of Turin’s historical centre. Our home is in the Quadrilatero Romano, inside a historical building designed during the time of Juvarra, one of Turin’s most famous architects. This quarter not only boasts bars, clubs and workshops of designers and fashion stylists but also old craftsman’s bottegas, historical cafès and the city’s most beautiful churches and monuments. A stay in Aprile evokes the atmosphere of an old Torinese house with its generous spaces, hidden courtyards and the sound of the bells of the many baroque churches nearby.

From the windows of Aprile one can watch the sun setting over the rooftops and enjoy the spectacular view of the Basilica della Consolata, designed by Filippo Juvarra, and the adjacent roman bell-tower.

An accurate and careful restoration of this historical space has left intact the extraordinary fascination of its ample rooms and ceilings with open beams.

The wooden frames of the roof have been restored in line with their history. Antique parquet floors were recovered and treated with beeswax polish, the walls instead with limewash and decorated with natural pigments. All work was carried out following the principles of ecological architecture: the exclusive use of natural materials, no synthetic glues and varnishes and the revival of traditional craftsmanship.

Guests will find here three independent rooms with bathrooms en suite, each with its own privately accessible door with key. The rooms each have their own personality yet have certain elements in common: old wooden furniture restored with taste and care and beds handmade without glue or metallic parts and completed with craftsman made futon mattresses in organic cotton. Alongside tradition sits modernity: suspended ceilings, raised sleeping zones, panoramic windows open to the sky and contemporary artwork on the walls.

A fascinating hospitality of great comfort to even the most discerning guest: this is the Aprile experience.

Breakfast is provided by Neo Head Café- a little jewel that we love to make known to our guests. Housed in the antique private chapel of one of Filippo Juvarra’s baroque edifices, and delightfully minature with its circular room, the Neo Head not only offers a delicious breakfast but reading material of various kinds, magazines on travel, fashion and trends and a magazine, “Neo Head”, dedicated to the cities of the world. Late sleepers will appreciate the elastic hours for the serving of breakfast, you are welcome from eight in the morning to eight at night.

On Sunday mornings guests can instead enjoy the fresh cakes and pastries at the Cremeria “Mondello” (Slow Food Prize 2005). With its splendid view of piazza Emanuele Filiberto you will be invited to savour the best of a lazy turinese morning.
