Via Sant'Anna, 31 - CASTEL MADAMA (RM)
Just a few kilometers from Rome, in the municipality of Castel Madama, Tenuta Colfiorito welcomes its guests to a location rich in history and natural beauty. This estate is situated precisely where a Roman villa stood two thousand years ago, in an area renowned in ancient times for its picturesque landscapes and agricultural abundance. Even today, visitors can admire remnants of that past, such as the Claudio Aqueduct and the villa of Horace.

Nestled within the authentic landscape of the Tiburtini Mountains and the Empolitana Valley, the estate spans over thirty hectares of vineyards and olive groves. The twisted forms of the ancient olive trees, particularly the rosciola variety, speak to the deep connection between this land and its agricultural tradition, which continues to be upheld using organic methods. The winery produces a range of wines, including indigenous grape varieties from Lazio like Greco, Malvasia, Sangiovese, and Cesanese, as well as newer varieties such as Pecorino and Montepulciano, grown in the “Vigna d’Olanda.”
At the heart of the estate lies a small rural village, partially restored to accommodate guests in elegant and comfortable apartments. Each unit features a bedroom with a private bathroom, a living room with a kitchenette, air conditioning, and tasteful furnishings. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxing, complemented by the tranquility of the countryside. The ancient oil mill, now a historical landmark, and the cellar carved into the rock, which is now used for tastings, retain the charm of bygone times.

Among the most enchanting spots on the estate, a long avenue lined with cherry laurel leads to the seventeenth-century church of San Giuseppe, framed by the greenery of olive trees and white flowers.

The estate is open from May 1 to September 30, as well as during the Christmas and Easter holidays, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the historical and natural wonders of the surrounding area. In just a few minutes, guests can reach Tivoli, home to its famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Villa Adriana, Villa d’Este, Villa Gregoriana, and the villa of Horace, perfect for cultural excursions or nature walks. Other easily accessible destinations include the Monti Lucretili Park, the Abruzzo National Park, and the medieval village of San Gregorio da Sassola.

Tenuta Colfiorito is a place where time seems to slow down, offering a stay filled with serenity, history, and authentic flavors.
