Via Dei Cesari, 32 - Gagnago, BORGO TICINO (NO)
Our 1902 farmhouse has been lovingly restored and has two guest rooms on the second floor, each with their own bathroom. The furniture is antique but the mattresses, duvets and amenities are comfortable and modern! Our tea and coffee tray includes organic herbal teas from local mountain herbs.
The Azalea Room has a double bed which can be separated into two singles, whereas the Acacia Room has a king size bed plus a single. In each of the rooms an additional child's bed or single bed can be added on request (guests under 15 only in the additional bed). Guests may choose Dinner, Bed and Breakfast orBed and Breakfast only (or a combination of the two). We use our own fruit and vegetables where possible, and other top quality ingredients come from local ("0 km"), organic and/or fair trade producers. We also specialise in Gluten Free cooking (producing the same delicious seasonal dishes we offer everyone, just with no gluten). Any special dietary requirements (coeliacs, vegetarians, allergies to...), or even simple preferences/dislikes, should be notified as soon as possible after booking, so we can design the perfect menu for you.
If fitness is your thing, guests can enjoy running down to the Percorso Vita (Open Air fitness/exercise circuit) in the public Monte Solivo woods, or borrow mats, weights, rebounder and other equipment we have here at Cascina Cesarina. In the pool area we also have a regular basketball hoop with backboard for honing your skills.
At the other end of the spectrum, lazy days by the pool can be enjoyed dozing in the hammocks or cooking up a barbecue for lunch or dinner.
Cascina Cesarina is a haven of peace, where the only sounds are birdsong and the cries of various animals in the neighbouring wildlife park (La Torbiera), Yet within a few minutes' drive you can reach both the eastern and the western shores of Lake Maggiore, with the splendid Borromeo Islands including IsolaBella and Isola Madre, and just 30 minutes away is picture-perfect Lake Orta, with its World Heritage Site Sacro Monte, its quaint cobbled streets and well-preserved buildings, plus the atmospheric island of St. Giulio itself. For city-lovers, the motorway is just 3 km away and from there you can get to Milan in 40 minutes (or 1 hour by train). Milan Malpensa airport is just 25 minutes' easy, totally traffic-free drive away.
For those who love the countryside, there are countless walking, trekking and bicycle routes in the surrounding area, in the Parco del Ticino and around Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta, as well as the more remote and wild Valgrande park.
For thrill-seekers, there is a Zipline you can ride alone or in tandem, various summer water and adventure parks, as well as all water sports on Lake Maggiore. There are also a go-kart track and a riding school in Borgo Ticino.
Children love the Safari Park in Pombia, just 10 minutes away, which also has an aquarium, falconry and equestrian displays and a funfair, and guests of all ages enjoy visiting the Rocca di Angera castle with its splendid frescoed walls, amazing collection of antique dolls and princes' toys from centuries gone by, as well as the 360° views from the top of the tower.
