What to see, where to go
Pisa is world-wide famous for its Torre Pendente - the leaning tower - and Piazza dei Miracoli – the miracles square -, true wonders both to the tourists who first see them and to the inhabitants who live it everyday.

Anyway Pisa is much more than this, it is also a city rich in history, culture, renowned characters, famous names, living vestiges of gone eras. Medieval Pisa, Pisa as Repubblica Marinara that faced and fought the others repubbliche marinare of Genova, Venezia, Amalfi; Medicean Pisa subdued to Florence but steady in its own individuality. Traces of this can be found everywhere in the city, within reach for everyone: the case Torri, the majestic palaces along the lungarni – the Arno embankments -, the patrician residences, the Carovana Palace, which is the seat of the Scuola Normale, the Palace of the Widows, the Royal Palace, to name a few, the several churches which would all worth a visit, the typical squares, the narrow alleys so charming that take us back in time.

Pisa is an academic city comprising excellence universities such the Scuola Normale, the Scuola Superiore di Studi Sant’Anna, research centres including CNR, and many renowned hospitals; all of this contributes making Pisa world-famous.

Pisa also reflects onto its own environs: the beauty of Certosa di Calci, S. Piero a Grado church, S. Giuliano Terme, Vicopisano, the small villages surrounding it, its hills. All of this sure deserves a visit.

Pisa is a small town in size but so big in history and traditions that still live today through folk customs, such as “La Luminara di S. Ranieri”, “Il gioco del Ponte”, “Le regate Storiche” and many other events, exhibitions and visits that are planned every year.

If we move just a few kilometres, we get to other places, interesting both for their landscape and their culture, which are easy to reach by public transport. They are the perfect destination for one-day trips: Viareggio and Versilia, Torre del Lago, Lucca, Pietrasanta, Carrara marble quarries, Volterra, Vinci – Leonardo’s home town -, Garfagnana small villages, to name a few, and much more according to tourists’ interests.

Pisa is also its residents’ friendliness, their Tuscan warmth, their hospitality, their wish to broaden their horizons, to connect, to take care of themselves but also of the others. Our house reflects our personality, tastes, passions, life style and conveys it to everyone passing by.

This is the spirit that made us open the B&B "Carla" and we warmly welcome all our guests.
