Via Casa Verone, 4 - Pontone, SCALA (SA)
Dear guests, we would like to inform you that to reach the property from the Medieval Borgo Medievale di Pontone, it will be necessary to climb 190 steps. We recommend bringing light luggage and, if necessary, asking the owner for assistance.

"Palazzo Verone" is an ancient historic residence dating back to the Middle Ages, which preserves the testimony of its important past thanks to the presence of various 18th-century frescoes inside (quote in the T.C.I. GUIDE).

It is located in the small medieval village of Pontone, halfway between Amalfi and Ravello.

From the windows and balconies of "Palazzo Verone," you can enjoy a breathtaking spectacle. Admire the enchanting Amalfi, stretching along the Valle dei Mulini, the majestic Villa Cimbrone in Ravello on the rocky spur, and the fascinating Gulf of Salerno, extending to the Piana di Paestum and Punta Licosa.

Thanks to its privileged position, the Palace is immersed in an almost unreal silence. When you wake up in the morning, you cannot help but think: "What a wonder to wake up in Pontone!"
The Palace was owned by the Verone family, an influential and prestigious family from the village of Pontone in the late 18th century. The head of the family, Giovanbattista Verone, was then in charge of the administration of the small village, which led to conflicts and envy from other powerful families of the time.

It is said that there were strong clashes with another noble family from the area, the D'Afflitto, who owned the remains of the ancient basilica of S. Eustachio di Minuta. It seems that the almost total destruction of this basilica was caused by rivalry between the Verone and D'Afflitto, related to power issues.

Another anecdote related to the Verone family concerns a "legend" depicted in the frescoes at the entrance of the Palace. These frescoes show two ovals, one with figures of brigands chained in period clothing and the other with souls from purgatory brandishing bones. It is said that thanks to the intercession of the souls from purgatory, the family was saved from the assault of the brigands. More details about this story can be provided directly by the owner of the property, Michele Criscuolo.

It is an interesting story that the current owner and manager of the accommodation has found confirmation in some historical writings of the time documenting its veracity.
