Via Marconi, 7 - GUSSAGO (BS)
Gran Bili is a bed and breakfast in the most genuine sense of the term. It's not a bed and breakfast that is actually a hotel or an apartment. Gran Bili is a true bed and breakfast, born as the English ancestors' homes were: children move out and the rooms remain. It offers overnight accommodation and a hearty breakfast, with kindness, familiarity, and professionalism. The large house that hosts Gran Bili is also where our family lives. Although the entrances to our apartment and the one dedicated to Gran Bili are separate, we sometimes run into each other.

As a bed and breakfast, Gran Bili is not our main business, but we have grown fond of it and take it seriously. My mother decided to become a landlady years ago, more as a hobby than anything else, when both my brother and I moved abroad. After returning to Italy and refurbishing the house, I decided to continue running Gran Bili with the same spirit and passion as my mother.

THE HOUSE
The house that hosts Gran Bili is a farmhouse dating back to the seventeenth century, inhabited by our family for generations. It is divided into three floors: on the ground floor, there are the cellars and the fireplace room. A staircase leads to the noble floor, overlooking a splendid loggia where the bed and breakfast is located, and on the third floor, the attic, an ancient barn, is where our family lives.

The house is located in the historic center of Gussago, a stone's throw from the old church of San Lorenzo, the main square, and the ancient Pieve. You enter through a large green door on Via Marconi, one of many. Once inside, you feel almost as if you were in the countryside. That's the detail that has always fascinated me about this house. You shut out the noise and the town itself, and enjoy the peace of the garden, vineyard, and orchard. From the Loggia, to the right, you can admire the profile of Mount Barbisone and, with a keen eye, you can catch a glimpse of one of the towers of the Santissima. To the left, you can see the old roofs of the town's houses and bell towers, and then up, all the way to the Stella.

THE ROOMS
Gran Bili consists of a living room, three bedrooms overlooking the corridor, and two bathrooms. The three rooms are of different types: one of the double rooms and the twin room share the same bathroom, which is located in the hallway in front of the rooms. The third room is also a double, but it has a private bathroom.

The living room is divided into a breakfast area and a sofa area where guests can watch TV or read.

The entrance to the rooms is independent from ours and is located on the loggia. The loggia is equipped with wicker armchairs and a rocking chair and is a very pleasant place to relax, read a book, chat, or simply enjoy the view, perhaps sipping a glass of wine.

SURROUNDINGS
Gussago is located among the hills of Franciacorta, 8 km from Brescia towards Lake Iseo. It is an ideal location for visiting both the city of Brescia and the Garda and Iseo lake areas, as well as Franciacorta. The surroundings offer countless opportunities for various leisure activities. Starting directly from Gran Bili, you can take several walks: towards/to/over Lake Iseo. In recent years, the old paths of the Resistance, used during World War II, have also been retraced. Starting directly from home, you can reach the beautiful sanctuary of the Stella by walking along a path through the vineyards that passes by the panoramic church of San Rocco. The neighboring towns of Cellatica and Rodengo are excellent starting points for itineraries within the rich Park of the Hills. A few kilometers from Gran Bili, you will find the ancient Olivetan Abbey with its splendid cloisters. In fifteen minutes, you can reach the nature reserve of the Torbiere del Sebino, with its walks among the reeds and rich birdlife. Continuing for another ten minutes, you will reach Lake Iseo and Monte Isola. Further north is the Val Camonica, the archaeological park of Capo di Ponte, and finally, the Tonale pass.

In Gussago and throughout the Franciacorta area, there are numerous wineries, many of which offer tours and tastings. There are also several wine and food itineraries and events. Speaking of food, there are numerous taverns in the area serving various typical dishes, including the prince of Brescia cuisine, Lo Spiedo, which was only available in October and November in the past, but is now served almost all year round.

For bicycle enthusiasts, there are kilometers of more or less challenging cycling routes to suit all desires and needs. We will be happy to provide our guests with all the necessary paper information material and to recommend places and itineraries in person.
